FAQs

Q. What if you want to be a Crossroads Pro Bono Attorney but don’t have dependency or delinquency law experience?

A. Crossroads trains and mentors new attorneys throughout their representations, and new attorneys always partner with an experienced Crossroads attorney for their first case. Partnering with another attorney continues throughout future representations, and professional liability insurance is provided.

Q. Who does Crossroads For Florida Kids help?

A. We help disadvantaged children in Hillsborough County, Florida by providing pro bono attorneys to represent them in their dependency and/or delinquency cases. In delinquency representations our attorneys work on the defense team, which is headed up by the child’s Assistant Public Defender.

Q. How does Crossroads For Florida Kids receive referrals to represent children and young adults?

A. Juvenile Judges refer children and young adults to Crossroads’ Board President Rosemary Armstrong, who finds two pro bono attorneys to partner to represent him/her. Once the attorneys complete conflict checks, they are appointed by the referring judge and meet their client.

Q. How do I contact Crossroads For Florida Kids to learn more about becoming one of your pro bono attorneys?

A. Go to our Contact Page and leave us a message, or email Rosemary Armstrong at rosemary@crossroadsfloridakids.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
